Roof Tearoff etc.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Tearing off the shingles is probably the worst part of doing the roof. It's dirty, hard work.
However, it was easier on this roof because the shingles were so old and rotten.

Don pulling paper off   Shingle removal

Starting to lay plywood on the back side   Don carefully folding the paper as he removes it

Wheelbarrows full of shingles   Will it ever end?

Bug's eye view   The treehouse walkway

Me building the extension on the pickup   Dino wants to come in

Don did some work to smooth out a lump in our roof   Doin' what I do best... dumpster diving

Pullin' up shingles   This was the last section of roof to do

Looking down into the attic   Folding the paper was important so we would have more room in the dumpster

Plywood installed on the back of the garage

Throwing paper into the dumpster   We got a dumpster that was smaller than we needed so rubbish compression became important

Parking was getting to be a bit of a problem   To make up for the small dumpster we extended the sides on the Ranger and filled it with shingles to haul to the dump

As Don pulled the paper off in revealed the normally dark attic area   Endless shingle removal

Shingles in the Ranger   Me during when the garbage company came to remove the dumpster

Loading the dumpster   There it goes...

What's wrong with this picture? Don being creative with Linda's broken bicycle...   Ready for plywood

The bedroom roof without shingles   Don reinforcing the planking

Lotsa staples had to be used...   ...something like 20,000 of them

Inside the attic with the new lighting...   ...for those of us who go up there all the time, this is VERY weird

RAIN!!!?...   ...in June? This never happens.

Frantic arrangements to keep the water out.   It rained about a half inch. We got off easy though with only light leakage into the house. Thank you Don... Your paranoid preparations inspite of all my reassurances that it doesn't ever rain in June really paid off.
