Last Mexico Travel Before Leaving HP

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

These picures were taken during my last trip to Juarez before leaving HP.  I was traveling with Garry Holst (my companion on much of my JZ travel).    Many of the below images are scenes that you only see in Juarez.  And in addition to the usual JZ travel, this time we also elected to go through a different border crossing than we usually frequent so we had occasion to drive in Southerly direction from JZ through the desert... quite lovely.

The famous Afro-Bar... the outside is SO un-PC.   Who knows what goes on in there...

And so far I've been too scared to go in and find out   Not sure what this establishment is all about either

Typical driving scene in JZ

Statues... the Mexicans are big into statues... one of the things that I like about the Mexicans   Statue in front of the ASUS plant

Greg Parlier in his famous Camero

Fruit stand   Random gravel road in the desert

Massive hill art on the side of a mountain rising up from the desert floor

Random structure in the desert...   We stopped for a while to take in the desert

Greg and Garry   Me and Garry with the hill art horse in the background

Endless empty road   Solitary chapel next to the road... we just had to stop

I still need someone who reads Spanish to translate this for me   The alter

Party at the chapel?!   I liked this picture... I'm glad that I looked up

Entering the Santa Teresa Border Crossing... so civilized... so uncrowded   Not like the JZ bridges... we shoulda gone here long ago

My (our) favorite restaurant in El Paso.. Sushi!!!!   Who woulda thought that the best sushi ever is in El Paso...

In JZ, to help beautify the city... they disguise cell towers as palm trees   Here's one now

It does wonders for the view   Another disguised cell tower

Tree growing in the middle of the road   I wonder how much this guy pays for insurance

I'll bet this is the best Chinese food ever   Driven to work... great view... hope this truck doesn't go over any big bumps

I liked this mountain... too bad there are a bunch of antenna's on top

Pallet fence... the Mexicans do incredible things with pallets   House made of pallets covered with stucco

More pallet architecture   They're also incredible with cinder blocks - second story addition

Here we're driving on what we called "dead dog road"... note the soon to be dead dog   I loved these gravel roads... couldn't take enough pictures of them

Smooth, endless highway south of JZ   Snake in front of car... I'm not gettin' out to move it

Okay... I finally did (Garry talked me into it)... "Dude, it's not gonna bite!"
