Malaysia

. . . . . . . . . . . .

During my time at Lumileds I made four trips to Malaysia.  Each time I stayed at the Equatorial Hotel... Pictures from these trips and travel to and from...

View from my room at the Eq   Driving range

Very sweet looking pool... never got to swim in it though

Tired from travel   They drive on the left in Malaysia... one of the many motor scooters... they sometimes deal with the rain by putting their jackets on backwards as they drive

Random scenes

Fruit stand   Traffic jam

Some kind of World War II Japanese bunker... couldn't stop in traffic to read the plaque

    Typical traffic scene

The steamy weather is hard on buildings

Lumileds

That land mass is eastern Russia near Siberia   Our plane just barely 'kissed' the edge of Russia

I think those are the Ural mountains in the distance

Plane in Penang   Nuther view from my hotel room - different room

The bridge to Butterworth   High priced homes behind the Eq

Looking towards Gloomy-LEDS (Lumileds)   Old house below hotel

New house being constructed   Looking down hotel balconies next to mine

Sunrise   More sunrise

Nuther sunrise... different day   More still... Malaysia can 'do' sunrises

Pool from cafe   Regan at breakfast

Julian and Regan... the big bellies   The Eq pool... I did hundreds of laps in this pool

Stairs between levels at the Eq   Eq koi pond

Hollow inside of hotel   Eq in the distance

Random traffic scenes

    Motor scooters everywhere

Batik factory

Gift buying at the batik store   Nice scarf Julian

Me getting in touch with my feminine side   Is this a good look or what?

Vertical mall

Muslims everywhere   These are Suuni Muslims

Flying over Point Reyes   Stunningly gorgeous...

This was a serious blessing that I had a window seat and....   ....I had my camera

Amazing....

Mile Rock off the entrance to San Francisco Bay

Mount Fuji   So lucky that the plane flew right over this and I had a window seat and again that I had my camera

Singapore Harbor...   ...ships everywhere

Landing at Singapore Airport   Flaps down

Big construction project right next to the Eq...

I would lean out my balcony and watch the action by the hour   Oh... this the progress on the new house under construction seen in the above pictures

The tall, white house in the middle of the picture was pretty spectacular   Workers working on one of the towers of the condo building

These workers worked 12 hour days and lived on site in the pictured living quarters   I think they also worked seven days a week but someone told me that they rotated days off so that construction went all seven days

Bringing concrete up to the top of the tower   The crane nearest me

They used this crane for everything...   ...including moving this stuff around

Big rain   ...and thunder and lightning

I loved the rain in Malaysia   During this week long trip I think they completely added one floor to this building

Close up of the living quarters of these workers... I was told that these folks were imported labor... some of them appeared to even have brought their families
