| I have been with Dance Away off and on for easily a decade, mostly with Doug Storkovich (the current owner) however I raced occasionally with the former owner (Bob Bloom) as well. Dance Away is a Santana 35 and Santana 35s is the class that I have logged the most time in. I've raced various Santana 35s for over 20 years now. But even though poor Dance Away is horribly beat up, every time I come aboard, it's like coming home. My most recent stint was Summer of '04 when we took the season in HDA J class. Doug started the season with the "Gettin' the Band Back Together" theme. We have all been sailing on other boats and Doug had been concentrating on ocean racing. But he was able to combine his ocean and bouy racing crews to put together a campaign. We had all aged though and after every race, there were generous portions of Ibuprofin distributed. The average age on the boat was something like 54 (I was one of the youngsters at 51). This was rough on me because I'm a bowman and you don't see many of them over 30 (I guess that you're supposed to wise up over time and find a more civilized place on the boat). | ||

| I have been with Absolute 02 off and on for over a year primarily for the Winters. As always, I'm doing bow. It's a Santa Cruz boat which is unusual for me. It would make sense if I raced it out of Santa Cruz since that's local for me but it seems like the only time I hook up with them is when they bring the boat up to San Francisco Bay for the Winter season. This could change this next Summer but for now I'm very happy. Its a sweet ride with a fun crew and it certainly gets us around the marks quickly. This boat is all race. There isn't a bit of "cruise" in it which suits me well. | ||

I was with Jarlen for a couple seasons during the twilight of the J35 era on the bay. I had mostly retired and Bob Bloom pulled me back into the fray. It was difficult for me at first but got better as I became more familiar with the boat. When the J35 fleet finally dried up, I was back close to top form. Bob isn't racing his boat anymore except maybe in a few beer can races here and there. But this boat was campaigned hard for many years by a very high calibur crew and has a distinguished record. |

| Other boats that I was closely associated with were Riff Raff (Santana 35 - 4 years), Excalibur (Santana 35 - 4 years), Mariner (Newport 30 - 3 years) and Blood Vessel (B25 - 3 years). I wish I had pictures of these boats because I logged some serious time with all of them. Of course there were many other boats that I raced as backup crew or on a temporary basis but these are the boats I called home. | ||
| Some of the Santana's that I've raced on... This is by no means all of them. Just all of them for which I could find pictures. |

| This is the old Riff Raff (currently Ice Nine). I sailed on this boat for a solid four seasons. Then later spent some time on it when it was Resolute II. As Riff Raff, it was my first committed crew position. Prior to that, I had only hooked up for one-dayers. We had the back of the fleet pretty well locked up. But for me it was like going to the school... The University of Riff Raff. This is where I learned my damage control skills and developed a healthy fear of what can happen out on the bay. It was fun sailing sometimes though. I liked the owners.. Jack Air and Martin Gordan. | I was with these guys (il pelicano) for about half a season. I was a backup bowman. I would have been full time but had other obligations. Also, I don't know if I was good enough at the time. Can't remember the owners name. He was an investment banker with issues. Likeable though. During it's heyday, this boat dominated the Santana fleet. I think it's up in British Columbia now. | |

| I've sailed on Flexible Flyer a few times. It was originally Hurley Burley (or was it Celerity? Can't remember.) . Then Mike Creazzi bought it. I sailed with him a little but he wasn't all that fun (he's a screamer) so I left. This boat went on to dominate the Santana fleet. I revisited Flexi a couple owners later (Leighton and Julie Quon). They were putting a program together. However the fleet was in it's death throes so they never really had the opportunity to race it like it was meant to be raced. | Even though Northern Lights is an aging, decrepted hulk, it has a distinguished past and it's special to me because it was the first Santana that I ever raced aboard. I went out on the Light Bucket race in '83. Was a horrible race for me but somehow I got hooked on the whole thing. Went on to start racing in the Santana fleet aboard Riff Raff in the Winter of '84 (we did well) and this has been my home fleet in one way or another ever since. | |

| I can't remember much about Carnaval. I raced aboard as a fill in bowman a couple times in the mid/late '80s. | Same thing with Cheers. This was the boat where I first tried to execute a floater douse. Of course it was calamity. But this is a douse that I take for granted now (if the cockpit has their shit together). | |
