Last race of the Golden Gate Midwinters - 3/4/05

Pictures by Geoff Evans
The course was GG, Blackaller, Blossom, Blackaller, Fort Mason, finish with port roundings. Pretty vanilla City Front course. We managed to get a ninth overall in this race, our best finish of the season.

Skippy and Jan... sorry Skip, I know that you don't like that name but it's so perfect!

It was Mark's turn to drive today. He's a very intense driver as you can see here.

Spinnaker and the new main.

Jan and Geoff. Also you can just see the edge of Jerry. He was doing tactics today.

Mark driving again. Jerry contemplating his next move.

This huge ship was entering the bay while we were racing. It's carrying two cranes over to the Oakland shipyard. There was quite a bit of fanfar as these cranes were coming in under the Golden Gate Bridge.

Another view of the ship. Oh and that's me contemplating my next move. I think the jib is on the wrong side for the next mark rounding. Hmmmm... let's see floater douse.... jib on the right... can I get away with that? Do I have enough time to move it over to the left?... Good Grief! Why can't things ever be simple?
