Spencer was drafted into the Scotts Valley Braves. This is a team in the majors of the Scotts Valley little league. We
are VERY happy that Spencer is a Brave and we look forward to a wonderful season. Everyone (players, coaches and
fellow parents) are very nice and both Spencer and I find ourselves bonding with the team already.
Practices have started and today (2/28/05) was the first practice game of the season (against the Scotts Valley A's).
We're not quite sure what the score was (it might have been 9 - 2) but we do know that the Braves took a beating.
This is okay because it was only a practice game. Also, the A's are a very strong team coached by Craig Bolanos.
Last year they won the whole season and it's widely expected that they will repeat this year.
Spencer is playing a number of positions. He is a good utility infielder with a good glove and plays with discipline and
intelligence. Today he played left field, center field and second base. He is interested in playing all positions except pitcher.
Last year he filled the role of utility infielder so we anticipate that he will tend toward that again.
Oh and today was the debut of his new bat! We can all be relieved to know that the new bat had no wear after today's plate
appearances.
