The next morning was lovely. I was reluctant to leave our berth however we had to be on our way if we were
going to make it to Princess Louisa Inlet. We had breakfast and reluctantly left the dock. After leaving the harbor,
we took a right to enter Agamemnon Channel. The inlets and reaches were connected to each other so after we
figured out how to get through the
intersection of Agamemnon Channel, Jervis Inlet, Sechelt Inlet and Prince of
Wales Reach, the rest was a snap. We were continuously surrounded with sheer cliffs topped in snow capped
peaks. It was like being in the Sierras but cruising through them in a sailboat. Surreal... It was like being in Joseph
Conrad's book Heart of Darkness only instead of being more evil as we went upriver, it was more beautiful and
almost spiritual.
Somewhere along the Princes Royal Reach the wind started to fill in behind us. We started with all the sails up.
Then since the wind was behind us, dropped the main and went with the jib alone. We moved along quite nicely
going faster even than we would have with the engine. The sailing was very enjoyable.

As expected, the wind would always pick up around the points which was good for us in the sailboat. This was where the Princess Royal Reach turned into the Queens Reach |

I think everyone was getting bored with the wind, the waterfalls, the mountains and beautiful scenery. |
This picture doesn't do this massive rock justice. It was absolutely huge. |

The sailing was great. We just kept jibing back and forth across the freshening wind. With the wind coming from behind, we were actually getting pretty warm. |

The wind kept building to the low 20s. We were zipping right along. |
You can see Princess Louisa Inlet on the chart plotter as the little waterway off to the right of the main inlet (Queen's Reach). |

Not sure what to take pictures of... everything is beautiful. |
The mountains mark the end of Queen's Reach. We didn't go up that far. |

In the narrative at the top, I went too far. All the Malibu Rapids drama wasn't until right after this particular picture was taken. I'll mention it again on that page as a reminder when you get there. |
